Platonic Life-Partners: Yuito and Kasane start off with a rocky relationship but form a strong bond as the story progresses. Also, thanks to Kasane and Wakana being Design Children of the same template, this by proxy means that Kasane would be genetically considered to be Yuito's mother, although not much comes out of this. One Degree of Separation: Wakana Sumeragi, Yuito's biological mother, was Kasane's adoptive mother back in Togetsu, which makes her the foster older sister to both Kaito and Yuito.Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Yuito primarily uses a sword for powerful close-ranged attacks, while Kasane's flying blades make her adept at mid-range area attacks.Kasane frequently mentions how obscenely wealthy the Randalls are, with them having more luxury emergency shelters than they know what to do with, treating them more like vacation homes. Kasane is the adopted daughter of the Randall Family of Randall Heavy Industries, a Mega-Corp that provides much of the technology and equipment used by the world. The Sumeragis effectively own many Mega-Corps and the OSF as they are based in the city-state of Suoh, thanks to generous endowments and privileges granted by the family. Yuito is the 2nd biological son of Joe Sumeragi and part of the prestigious Sumeragi Clan, a long, proud line of politicians and military officers dating back to New Himuka's founder, Yakumo Sumeragi.Fiction 500: They're both from obscenely rich families.Dueling Player Characters: Both are fought as bosses in each other's campaigns.Thankfully, they're back to normal as soon as Brain Field ends. Ax-Crazy: While under the effect of Brain Field, Yuito and Kasane become absolutely unhinged, laughing like maniacs while declaring they'll destroy everything. She considers what she wants from life but doesn’t cut herself off from what (or who) she loves. What’s more, is that she deals with it very maturely. Watching her slowly come to the realization that she needs to start living for herself is an interesting one. She followed her childhood friend, Yuito, into the OSF because she wanted to be with him but didn’t stop to consider what she wanted from the experience. 5 – Hanabi IchijoĪn intensely friendly character from the word go, Hanabi’s struggle is a very relatable one. Alternatively, it gives a momentary reprieve to heal and recover mid-battle. It allows the protagonist to use Psychokinesis to their heart’s content without worrying about dodging attacks. Her ability to slow time opens to many possibilities. That said, her Hypervelocity power is fantastic in high-stress battle situations. She sees things like having a relationship with her brother as a “meaningless task”, and even when she opens up more, it doesn’t fade to a satisfactory degree. It goes slightly deeper than that, though, and she’s outright uncaring towards many people in her life. After that, he has such an infectious optimism, it’s hard to say anything bad about him. Once Yuito and/or Kasane help him see that, he opens up significantly. His insecurities about being a former dud blind him to the possibility of doing great things outside of battle. The constant drive to better himself is admirable but also slightly tragic when you understand why it’s there. His problem is that his ability is only helpful in narrow circumstances. Luka is quite likeable from a personal standpoint. It can be great to land a solid strike or take a moment to recover, but it’s not very practical in the heat of an intense battle. ![]() His invisibility power, while useful in the story, isn’t that useful for battle. That doesn’t necessarily make them forgivable, as Yuito himself says, but it certainly softens the blow. ![]() There grows an understanding of why he acts as he does and how he was left with little choice when it came to many of his worst actions. That said, as the story grows and his facade slowly drops in Bond Episodes.
